Description: Leisure, represented in this piece by a pair of sandals in the sand, recalls America’s history of the beginnings of the middle class, which is a population between the rich and poor that is becoming smaller and smaller in the U.S. This piece represents our uncertainties, as well as leisure activities in general, which were created as a way for the everyday American to escape daily life.

This work is from Antar’s Realism in Stone series.
