Robin Antar, A Jewish Favorite, 2016
Media: Limestone, Fluorite, and Mixed-media
Dimensions: 8”H X 77”W X 17”D
Description: This piece represents the Jewish community in which Antar was brought up, and it invites a contemplation of the ethnic traditions woven into the fabric of America’s culture. When we think of American foods, we often forget that these everyday items today represent our decades-long history of sharing and mixing ethnic heritage from diverse communities. People think of bagels as a New York food, but it’s really a Jewish food, and, it’s important to think of how food can bring us together and unite us despite our differences.

This work is from Antar’s Realism in Stone series.
